thing to remember is nets all look the same on top lol not all nets you see are fishing for Walleye and they are regulated as to what , when, where, and how much they can catch there is only a couple guys netting BOQ there used to be ALOT more doing it but sold there license back to government you are wrong to think netting is a problem.. my guess is patterns have changed either you change with them of live in a memories of how it was in the good old days lol social media hurt the fishery much more that nets, or natives ever have

Ok first off I didn’t mention anything about natives being a reason why the fishery has changed. So I don’t know why you had to say that ?

lol, well now how about the fact Natives use nets also,,, not to mention the fact that many nets you see belong to the MNR as well. and you brought up the topic of nets not me.. Natives always get dragged into the topic of fish decline unjustly so I might add I stand by my beliefs social media is a far bigger killer of good fishing spots if these pages were full of people posting pictures boasting big numbers you would also be seeing 100 boats in the reach on any given day lol like I said patterns change , good luck out there.

Maybe it’s just me being crazy but I can’t imaging that all those commercial nets aren’t affecting the fish entering the Bay. I’m pretty new to fishing this area so I don’t know if there’s been an increase in in the amount of nets or not but when I was out fishing in October it blew my mind how many nets I came across.

Sure it's the nets - what else -but complaining about nets is hampered by political correctness these days -

A lot of those nets you see down Adolphus Reach are Whitefish nets.

I'm not sure what the reason is, my guess would be the natives, similar to what happened/happening on Nipissing.
What I do know is, just a short 5-7 years ago, by late October my fishfinder would be lite up with hundreds of 7-12 pound fish, now I'm lucky to mark 10 in a day, let alone catch one.

Grizz if you believe that nets don't hurt the fishing population than you need to quickly stop drinking that water. These are all gill nets the last I checked gill nets don't select species harvest the only thing they might do is enlarge hole size to allow smaller fish threw. As mentioned earlier Lake Nippising is a wonderful example of what happened when over netting. Your right social media does not help and in ways that netters follow them as well and place nets where guys catch just look at Lake Erie some guy shoots his mouth off about a location next day trollers are all over the spot.

I find this a very interesting topic for debate but we kinda hijacked a thread in doing so poor guy was posting about tough fishing and now went to reasons why. I guess it could be argued then that anyone taking a fish is also hurting the fish population. I hope I didn't offend anyone here that wasn't my intent
