Hi I am a nooby to atv. bought a used machine and registered but not plated machine as I thought I needed insurance on it to plate it.
Can I run it on the BOQ or elsewhere without plate or insurance ? Thanks :?:

nwillz is right.

You can only operate an unlicensed and uninsured ATV on property you personally own. Not buddies property or any public lands or water ways.

I don't believe you need insurance for a plate but you need proof the HST has been paid or a bill of sale and the MTO will charge the tax.

If your thinking of striking out on the Bay be very careful. Snowmobiles and ATV's can get you on bad ice real fast and too far from good ice to save you.

I have an ATV and I won't be taking it on the Bay. For me it's just not worth the risk.

Good luck.

You need liability insurance to take it on the Bay or anywhere besides private land for that matter. I put my atv through the ice on the Bay. Insurance covered everything. Make sure you have comprehensive insurance and you will be covered

$35 for the plate I believe, taxes aren't much for the $500 atv and insurance is cheap ($35 a month when my 08 was brand new, and now $15 a month.
