people at Merlands are telling my buddy it's safe and between 6 and 8 inches of good ice. Supposed to go out tomorrow morning.

I haven't been out but they are calling for rain here tomorrow. There is a tug that will be breaking ice all winter from Picton Bay to Amherst Island. They will also be breaking ice around the ferry. A friend of mine was fishing Picton Bay for perch and was out from Merland Park on 6 inches of good ice. Hope this helps you.

Thanks Fred. Going out with the guy from Merlands so I'm guessing he knows this stuff. At first I thought we were walking out alone but it seems he is going to take us out with his machine. I'll be in a survival suit and have picks just in case.
