Quinte Fishing

This is the area where I fish in the soft water season.
I'm wondering if anyone knows ice conditions and is this a bad area for current..
I know the boq can change daily so I'm looking for some seasoned veterans to add some input..

Typically it's one of the worse areas for current. The bridge area can be very dangerous.

was out yesterday west of park, was on 5 inches 3 white 2 black.. there are a lot of guys out from park right to the island..still slushy areas which is hard to believe with these temps..

by the bridge yesterday was 1-6" so spud your way. theres argos running out there but i wouldn't chance it

I went out there today. I didn't go out but spoke to a couple guys out there, they said 4-6" of ice, No fish seen..

I've been out from the Des launch four times in past few weeks. They are scarce but I've nabbed a couple 2lb'ers, both around late afternoon/dusk. Heard someone caught 13 in one day.

The north side of Forester's Island has a large area running it's length and several hundred feet wide that can be very risky.

Was out there tonight from 4 to 5. There was several huts on the north side of the island I was maybe a couple hundred yards from the island. No snow on the ice were I was however there is a fair bit of snow in places with some top water. There was 6 inches and lots of noise from ice being made. Got 2 on a buckshot jig 19 fow.

What is an approximate speed of current in those locations?
1. Just downstream of the bridge via hwy 49.
2. Northen Deseronto's side of lake in between the bridge and foresters island.
3. Slightly east of forester island out of boat ramp.
4. Halfs road.

It you don't know speed of current may be you can tell.
What is the smallest weight of lure do you use in those areas?

Do you use such technique?
Find the lure which could be light to be washed away from the cone of fishfinder but heavy enough to flute down to the bottom or stay near to it.
Release 1-2 feet of line at a time and wait for lure to play down or near to the bottom.
This way lure covers larver area from your hole to 10+ feet downstream.

My advice is to stay as vertical as possible. If a fish is 10 ft away and wants to feed it will find your lure. This is a 1/2oz to 3/4 oz area typically
