I have a few Sebile vibrato lures and have had little success. I’m wondering is there a certain way to fish these lures? Do you tip the lure with a minnow or minnow head? Or does tipping the lure ruin the action?

I've never used them before but I believe they have a similar fishing style of a lipless crankbait/rattlebait, say like a rippin rap or clackin rap. They are meant to be fished without a minnow, but I've seen videos where guys sometimes tip them with a minnow head. Tipping it with just the head should not ruin the action of the lure.
Go on Youtube on type in "ice fishing walleye Sebile Vibrato" or something like that, and there should be some info there.

Good Luck!!

Have seen/used them fished with or without minnows or minnow heads. Tend to have better luck using minnows.
My advice would be to tip both hooks to keep the weight distribution consistent. Tends to keep a similar action when both ends are tipped. Cheers.

When I use it for whitefish and lakers I don't tip.

Tipping only one side does put the balance off. I did catch one with a minnow on the front side tho! I find you just have to work it with a more gently lift. Just enough to put the lure in action(vibrate) If you work it harder hooks will tangle on the line.
I am going to shrink tube the hooks horizontally to see how that works. Plan is to use head at front and piece of tail on the back.

I've caught a few fish with them this year, nice vibrate on the jerk, calls the fish right in. Minnow head on each hook. Slightest off balance and they lose it. Also tend to lose heads consistently due to working it hard. Gets pretty frustrating some days, seems like the lure is out of the water more than its in lol. I suggest swapping out hooks with minnow head hooks, if you can find them. Amazon is the only place I've found them so far and they are expensive...

Do a google search for John Gillespie from Wisconsin, the Sebile Vibrato was his favourite lure for many species.

I put a firetiger vibrato in the water every time I'm out. It's caught 80% of my wallys the past 2-3 yrs. Natural Shiner works ok to but firetiger is #1. Sometimes I fish them clean but mostly I tip with minnow heads on both ends and you have to put new hooks on, as the galvanized hooks they come with are junk. They have come down allot in price since they first came out which is nice!
I got my limit yesterday morning on my old faithful firetiger vibrato!

I'm with you. I've had them for several years and bought a new fire tiger this year because of all the new hype. They work well to call fish in but I didn't get a sniff otherwise.

That’s funny that’s where I’m at too. I can call them in but can’t get them to commit. That’s why I was asking if you tip them with minnows. I think maybe having another rod setup with a spoon close by to finesse them.

Thanks everyone for your input. You gotta love John Gillespie especially the dancing at the end of the show. Looks like they have a good time.
