Quinte Fishing

Went out with a buddy this morning and fished huffs with a few lookers but no takers. Sitting on about 5 inches of black and 4 or so of slush and white ice. Walking in we didn’t get 20 ft from our spot we were fishing, cutting over to a trail to follow back to shore and my buddy went through the ice, thankfully put his arms out and caught himself on the ice. Slowly pulled him up and out of the water but just shows you that you can’t ever trust the ice and stick to the trails!! Maybe it was a big hole that someone had spudded and grew from the current/snow and slush I’m not sure but scary none the less. Be careful out there, especially in higher current areas.

Time to seriously consider pulling the plug on Long Reach.

I heard two people went through there before today. We have given up on long reach. Too dangerous.

Anywhere on the bay where there is current the ice can be risky , T

were out Saturday found some of those big holes out there right along the path right up to my chest
Why in world the person who made the +++++ hole not mark it.
Another guy to the east of us did the samething .ice getting soft too

We were out at huffs Saturday also. 2 of us end up in old holes up to our waist. Slush made it hard to move around much. Did manage one nice walleye but wasn't worth swimming for. Tread lightly holes aren't freezing back up. Both holes we stepped in would easily fit a full grown adult. Fish Sherman's today and walking and ice conditions were much better.
