I didnt make it out except for a few hours saturday morning. Hit the mouth of the trent in and among the chaos of boats and sunday drivers thinking with the late cold spring the river might still be hot. What a gong show, never again! People driving over peoples lines, confusion at the launch and people not paying attention to where they are driving. Fish were tight lipped and never saw a net lifted. Of all the boats we chatted with one boat had caught 1 fish. We sold our trailer at Pickerel Park so I wasnt there this weekend. Friends who were there reported the same thing. Most were skunked. A few caught the odd fish and even fewer figured out something and were able to get some numbers. Seems like it was a tough bite all around. I kept one eye on the leaderboard while working on a home reno project and thought the 11.15 fish which showed up saturday morning on the board was going to win it as that fish stayed through out saturday and into sunday before eventually being knocked out by a 12.69lb. Did anyone make it down to the weigh in show and get any news on the winning fish?

I remember fishing the mouth of Trent about 30 years ago on opener with my dad and uncles, and it was the same back then. Boats criss-crossing everywhere driving over each others lines....etc Seems like it's still the same gong show. I also said never again!!! I've only fished Quinte opener maybe 3 or 4 times since then. Some things never change I guess.

Went fishing in Deseronto on Sunday at the mouth of the river. Started out in 8 ft of water, and caught 1 walleye and 1 pike. Drifted over to south side of mouth and was in 2 to 3 ft of water on a rock flat. Wow, we hammered them. Limited out in 45 minutes. The other boats moved in and they got in on the bite. It last from 9:30 am to 11am. We were drift fishing with a ball jig tip with a minnow.
Nice way to start the season.

2-3 feet of water....I love it!! Can't wait to get out, wherever it may be.

Anyone have any luck fishing the the mouth of the trent river near centennial park or the bridge/parks near belleville?

I wanted to take some friends who are new to fishing out but I don't have a boat so I was thinking of hitting up some shore spots.
