 Post subject: big sheep heads are back

Been out quite a bit lately, sheep heads are on the prowl,,. Lost count of how many ive caught one pushing at least 8lbs.. Anyone try eating them ? Ive heard there not bad but have never tried them ...

I don't eat fish bit have friends that will make clam chowder with them

never tried chowder,, but have threw enough of them back to feed a small village for a year

I was going to try a small one.

I thought maybe a salt water drum recipe, seeing as they're related. Should be good. Read that there's a huge fishery in the States.

I tried a small carp years ago. Filleted it and found long white worms in the meat. Looked like skinny shoelaces. Pulled them out and the meat looked good. Thought I would bread it and bake it in the oven. That should work for anything.

It basically turned into a lump of grey mush. I asked another guy what I did wrong.

He told me that I should have baked it on a wooden board.

Can't find that one in the cookbook.

Yes, it is a famous recipe. Slow cook it on a wooden board for two hours. Then throw the cooked fish in the garbage and eat the wooden board. BATMAN

I remember reading about people eating them on this forum a few years back. Can't remember who it was though. Do a search and you might get some info.

I have a buddy that eats bass, but brought a sheep home to eat. He said he couldn't get by the smell of it after it was cooked and gave it to the cat. The cat didn't eat it either.

Name an animal and someone somewhere eats them. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I couldn't bring myself to try one even though I know people that have. They said it was awful.
