Quinte Fishing

I have been killing it so far this spring with the pike. I actually quit fishing last Sunday because I was feeling sorry for them. That almost never happens. About 20 pike up to about 8lbs

I have been trolling large spoons in 7-8 feet of water down in the south part of Muscote Bay in front of the houses on County Road 14. Specifically large red and white spoons (Len Thompson #2) at 3.4 km/hour. Large spoons seem to be the key. I was catching them in the middle of the day as well. This is old-school but the fish seem to have forgotten about big old red and white spoons

Give it a try after the morning walleye bite is done if you are in the area. Later on when it weeds up drifting a work harness over the tops of the weeds and dropping into the holes catches a ton of fish

The pike action in the northport area sounds similar, except a bit deeper. Trolling my favorite chrome black cc shads, the pike are more plentiful than the walleye. The other day I landed my largest pike in years in 15 feet of water. Not sure if it's just my observation but I think the pike population has increased in the bay over the past few years? I spoke to the ministry who were doing on the water survey this spring and they found numbers of large pike and very large numbers of jumbo perch. Sounds like there's lots of food for them!
