So, I havn't caught a Salmon in ... 7 years ... and I'm in serious withdrawal. Looking to head out of Wellington this month if mother nature delivers some under 10 kms winds for my 16 ft lund with 40 hp. Tomorrow might even be a possibility.

Any feedback on how the fishings been? I only get out once or twice a year so want to pick a good day if possible, tks.

Wind is looking perfect tomorrow for a smaller boat but so damn hot! If I go it'll be an aft/evening fish around the Scotch Bonnet shoals, unless I get some intel before then that pts me elsewhere.

Good luck out there!

I usually fish Wicklow / Cobourg area, but did a spot fish out of Wellington for a few hours on Sat evening. Salmon point coughed up a 17lb chinook. There is lots of bait and hooks just off the drop off directly south of Wellington. picked up this fish in 95' over 120 on riggers. Only out for a short time, but might be worth a little more work.

I haven't fished Bonnet in a few weeks. It was slow when i was there but might be worth a try.

I remember fishing them in 50' right off the sandbanks beach, we were getting spooled and had to chase it but got cut off by another boat. Only fished them there the one day, lots of fish ,lots of boats.

Thanks for the heads up.
I was out twice last week for spoon wash.
Once straight out the next on the east side of McFaul.
Was fishing with my 4 year old. Two hours of trolling and catching sunfish off
The dock was his recommendation.
Who was I to disagree?

There are salmon in the area 100%. Once we found them we boated 2 20ish kings and a bow. Lost a double. It was a rotator + fly bite for me on Monday. Off the water around 11 am

Any sign of The Dreaded Fleas?

Haven't seen a single mention this year, and the timing is just about right.

On our side, the fleas are the worst I have ever seen. Loaded on rigger cable, 50lb mono , wire, best bet is coppers. We have been banging on salmon since mid May. I have never see the king fishing this good may - now from Oswego east

Looks like the salmon have been sticking to the south shore for longer this year from reports I've seen. Hope it starts to heat up soon on the north.

Washed my flies and meat rigs this morning out of Wicklow. Trolled 100-150 fow to the west early, moved out and circled the patch around 10:00 then moved right in to 50 fow to the east for the last half hour. Me thinks i should have stayed shallow all morning as all bait and fish were marked in less than 70 fow.
Fleas weren't that bad today. Slapped a few off the line after half an hour trolling, but seen worse.
Talked to a few others at the launch and sounds like very few were caught there today. But still a great morning to be out.
Hope others did better in other areas.

nothing for us out of Wellington.
Trolled from 100-160 straight out.
Saw someone at McFauls and someone east.

I was also out off Wicklow today. All fish and bait marked in 50-90'. No success on spoons. Saw a few rainbows bust on the surface. Just getting in to the game so only had spoons to try. Caught a small salmon and lost a rainbow on Wednesday in front of brighton bay.
