We did 3 around 20lbs. Biggest 23. A nice rainbow. And a shaker.

Had a bunch of misses and lost a few also.

Did not work one area. Kept moving, had bites in 100 to over 200 fow.

It's been mostly a meat bite down here and mc rockets are working great. Yellow tuxedo Michigan stinger has been my best spoon

I had 2 hits on green label herring. Behind a hotspot paddle. Wire divers with f/f were taking hits lconsistently.

In our earlier request for 'Flea Info', (haven't been on The Big O for a few years), we were kinda hoping they'd gone awaaaay. Sadly, this is apparently not the case.

Those of us in the 'Elderly Category' remember maybe 15 years back, they were non-existent.

Some recent members may wonder whut the H*ll we're talking about? For their benefit; the microscopic little b*ggers cling to lines in vast numbers, making it virtually impossible to reel in any Fish. Can't remember what the counter-actions were, other than using a specific 30 lb. line with either sharp edges, or round edges they couldn't hold on to. (Somebody help us out here?)

Bottom line: if you have the urge to hunt the mighty Chinook, BUT don't know how to combat The Fleas, don't waste your time. Research, research, research...~

Fleas can be a nightmare. Lost that rainbow on Wednesday because of them. Immediatly went to pro tackle and equipped the rods with flea flicker. No flea issues with the new line. Would recommend for combatting fleas.

As said, flea flicker line and 30lb Berkley big game line is ok too. I like to pull the lines every half hour and slap the line on the water to get them off and prevent them from building up too thick on the line. Good reason to check your lure is working properly at the same time. But sometimes you just have to slide them down the line with your fingers and pinch then off.

I believe pro tackle has some in stock. Belleville CT used to carry the cortland. I prefer the cortland but since it is no longer produced it is pretty well impossible to find.

The blood run has a lubricant or coating on it. For a tip put it deeper in your release then you may normally. Until you get a feel for it anyways. Image

If someone was in Wellington and wanted to purchase the 20 lbs cortland spool I'd let it go.

I prefer 30 lbs.

Let's say a whoping 10 bucks for it. Lol. Should ask more. I know it's in high demand right now

Flea flicker was made in the town where I live but is no longer made. It does work well but the line twist is awful. Today I bumped up to 40lb big game instead of 30. The fish didn't care and they were cooperating. My fleas were minimal. I tried adding photos but it's says too many pixels and I don't know how to add photos here anymore since I lost Photobucket

Disclaimer: it's been a decade since the Fleas drove us off The Bonnet and surroundings. However, we still vividly remember the frustrations involved in trying to bring lines back to the boat loaded with the d**med things.

The specialty lines were/continue to be helpful, but looking at that loaded line pictured above, we can't help wondering if the use of Downriggers might work? Simply allow the Rigger Line to suck up the Fleas in the higher water levels, and hope the regular line running back from the releases would continue to be free and clear.

Anybody having success with this approach?

Fleas still gather on your upper line and slide down. They will gather on any knot or swivel...
