Been wondering - years ago when we put our outboards away for a short time or for the winter we would turn off the gas supply and let the motor run out of gas - that way there was no gas in the carburetor to gum up during the period the motor wasn't used - now a days the manufactures recommend that you add some kind of stabilizer and fill the gas tank to avoid any condensation from forming in the gas tank - seems to me that running the motor until it runs out of gas would be the best way to go but wonder why this isn't recommended anymore - any thoughts on this

My Honda say to drain the carbs and change the oils and it is good to store. I spray a little fogging oil in the spark plug holes and turn it over for good measure.

I've had my boat for 11 years now and I fill the gas tank before storage. I add Seafoam to the gas tank and let the motor run for a few minutes before she goes to sleep for the winter. I still have the same gas in my tank from last December and it starts first crank every time. I do the same thing every year. No fogging, no draining, no nothing. Very simple and it works!!!

I always make sure to fill the tank up with gas without ethanol
and then run stabilizer through it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe shell nitro is ethanol free.
They don't always display it at the pump.

I have been wondering who in Picton would carry the same. Anybody know?

This website advertises the companies with their ethanol content, looks like pioneer and petro canada are the two who are not ethanol free at 91 octane..
