Launched at Finkles at 730am with barely enough water to get the boat off. Had to reverse off as she wouldn’t float off. It was -8c while we headed west to the fishing grounds. We fished Adolphus Reach until about 130pm. Lucky enough to have 2 others today so we ran a 6 rod spread with 4 on boards and 2 on riggers. Riggers didn’t take a sniff all day trying various baits and depths while keeping the baits in the top 40’ of the water column.

First fish came while setting lines, nice chunky 25” walleye. Kept him for dinner (and it was a male). Caught on a deep husky jerk.

Second fish came a while later and was a better fish. After a short battle a 27.75” walleye came to the boat. Quick pic and back to swim away. Came on a reef runner 800.

After an hour or so we hit the jackpot. We knew it was a great fish as it tore the board back and stayed down the entire way in. My buddy Randy was up and on the rod and brought in his new PB, 30.75” and 14lb 8oz of Quinte Gold. Couldn’t be more happy for him and an honour to be his net man. Also a new PB walleye for my boat. She came on a TD11 and swam away healthy after some pics.

Great day to be out, cold but not too bad and the wind was not bad at all. That fish made everything worth while for sure!

We hit one sheep shortly after the tank and that was it.

Can’t wait till the next trip, we sure are fortunate to have this fishery. Catch and release works guys, do it!

Nice fish! That’s going to be a hard PB to beat! We were out today closer to the ferry. We didn’t really mark much in terms of baitfish or walleye. Are the fish just moving into the reach or am I missing something? We trolled from the ferry, east zig zagging down the reach in numerous depths. Only made it a little over halfway to the gap but covered a lot of water between there.

Great report BigMac and what a fish!!! That will be a tough one to beat for sure, but if any body of water can do it, it’s Quinte. Every time the board drops back, it could be a giant. Congrats again.
