I've got a week off, and I was hoping to do some fishing. The ice in Belleville is still a bit sketchy for me so I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions/info on a lake with decent access and decent ice within an hour or so drive. I have a spud, picks and float suit and will obviously check myself as I wander out. I just have no experience on the lakes up there and looking for some advise (parking, starting points, general areas, etc). I don't care what species, I just want to catch some fish.

I have a big Rapala Cruzer 3-man flip over that is too heavy for me to pull by hand. I don't know how much I'll get to tow that around this year so I just got a Clam 1-man flip over for a bit of a lighter rig. Can't wait to use it. I have a Panoptix Ice combo on the way too! So excited!

I heard that a few were fishing on Stoco. There were a few out on Beaver on the north lake so I imagine Stoco near the town boat launch would be OK. The Moria flows into the lake to the east of the park, so I wouldn't wander too far that way.
My daughter told me that a car went through on Stoco about a week ago but I don't know if someone was fishing or missed a turn.

I'm told "Cozy Cove" would be the best bet but I've never been out there. You know anything about it? Parking/launching/fishing?

I think I may go explore it tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully a few people are around lol.

I know where it is but haven't heard about the fishing or the ice. Looked at google earth and the MPAC site. There's a right of way to the water soon as you turn off Sulphide Road.. Hopefully someone will be out there.

Good luck.

I went out today, late morning. There was over 12" of ice but I only went about 600 meters or so I'd say. There was a few hard huts out and a couple of quads. The good thing about the clear ice with no snow is that you can clearly see the thickness of the ice as you walk. I know at some point it gets thin when the lake opens up so I punched a bunch of holes in the safe area for starters. Only caught lots of little (very little) perch. I fished 14-17'.

Hey fellas.
Been out and about north of peterborough area scouting lakes and bays etc etc (On Holidays still)
Not much for "thick" ice, but still managed to find a nice spot on a lake north of burleigh falls.
We setup in 10' of water on 8" of black ice on the edge of a weedy bay around 2p.m,
Around 4:30 p.m my fishing partner landed a 12 lb tanker of a kawartha walleye . Pretty good for kawartha lakes i figured.
Definately a breeder and full of eggs..
Back she went after a few photos .
We managed to put 2 eaters in the bucket
Made for a good night out .
Came home and ate the little buggers up.
Just figured i would add a little input after always reading other anglers stories on here.
I do have pictures and wish i could add them .
Just have not figured that out yet
