A fisherman needed a helicopter rescue off Amherst Island today. A chunk of ice broke off with him on it and started drifting into the lake. Helicopter got there just in time as there was not much left of the ice he was on. Use extreme caution out in this area.

This guy is super lucky. I saw guy's fishing the gap last year, after the the ice separated from the shore at Bath. I was surprised that they wouldn't realize the danger. All kinds of stories of guy's drifting off on ice. The gap is a perfect place for that to happen.

I'm glad this guy survived and hope people reconsider going out there.

I would hope if any of us made a mistake or a accident happened there would be services to help that's why they are called accidents ...cut the guy some slack eh
