Hello Peter, walleye opens back up in May. The walleye will be all over the bay. As far as safety, there are plenty of areas that you can fish if you just watch the wind. Study a map of the bay and adjust accordingly for the wind. Trolling spinners or worm harnesses as well as jigging works well. I am not sure on the camping part of it.

The following places should meet your needs in terms of safe waters, camping and good spring fishing. Of course mother nature might not agree sometimes.

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the form.

Two websites that may be of some use to you.

https://www.windfinder.com/#9/44.1260/-77.0114

http://www.quintefishing.com/Boat%20Launches.html

They'll show you the current and forecasted wind and the launches that'll work best for the conditions.

As for tackle, I like bottom bounces and worm harnesses in the spring and early summer. Spinners and worm and jigging work well. Later on, some guy's swear by late evening fishing.

Have fun.

Welcome to the board Peter. There are other options in Prince Edward County on smaller bodies of water that have great populations of basically all the same gamefish species that are persued on Quinte. These lakes also have camping options and all the amenities. Take a look at West Lake, East Lake, Consecon Lake and last but not least Wellers Bay. Good luck and enjoy the Quinte area!

That is excellent. Wondered if something like that was out there. Often after making the trip down to Hay Bay from Napanee I have to turn around after seeing white caps .

I recommend being cautious in the area, especially if you are an elder. I am retired myself and I only go there with emergency bracelets attached to my backpack. I bought one for myself and one for my brother who loves hiking. I cherish it so much that I figured out how to do the cobra weave and purchased several yards of various paracords as recommended here: http://big-game-adria.com/2018/11/05/ou ... ergencies/ I made a wide range of wristbands for different purposes and I made my pooch one too that he completely adores and it fits him well, No matter when I am hunting with my pup there's more than 50 yards of paracord for emergencies and we help other people out if someone in trouble so it's a good buy.

I would also recommend windy.com

Lots of layers and features to add or turn on. A few different models to look at.

Subtle advertising. Gimme a break.

Hiya Peter, and welcome to one of the best things the Internet offers.

Fishing or otherwise, we have a terrific buncha Folks on board, and Help is readily offered if needed.

IF you Fish the North End of The Bay between Trenton and Belleville, there's a tricky wee quirk worth keeping in mind: our Guys call it "The Kingston Thermal".

Pretty much every day in the warm Months, a relatively strong Westerly Wind can start cranking up between 11:30-Noon, and blow 'down The Bay' for at least a few hours. Won't bother you much despite that 12 footer, since you'd be running for home with a following Wind. However, IF you needed to get to the WEST end of the Bay, you'd buck healthy wave action getting home.

Keep it in mind if you fish that area toward mid-day.

Rgds, Wordpecker.

Hi Peter. Welcome to the forum. If you are wanting to camp at Pickerel Park, they are under Sun Communities and can be found at the following link:

https://www.suncommunities.com/communit ... ampground/

Click on the Park Map. It gives you the layout of the Park and has the phone number at the top of the page so you can contact them for booking. Cheers
