Hi - new to the forum and will be our 1st time fishing out of the BOQ for walleye.

We'll be staying at Pickerel Park over the long weekend and launching from there. This will also be the 1st time with the new GPS and DI electronics, just a little unsure of what depth to target, or if there are any places we should be looking for. Likely going to run worm harness, or dropping minnows - are there any other no-brainers we should be considering? Our boat is only 14ft so want to avoid the larger water areas if possible as well.

Thanks!

I'm on s shore Hay Bay just west of pickerel park. Did well last year just in and around the general area pretty much anywhere. ..trolling spinner harnesses...up until early to mid June then they start head out(west)

Thanks for the feedback and private messages - appreciated!

Fishing was slow Sunday until evening, getting into everything from walleye, perch, white bass, catfish, to a giant eel (thrown right back as we were scared). Monday we tried early morning but the winds were far too high to troll properly, and the anchor kept getting dislodged so we called it a day.

Later this season or next year we will be coming up again - I found Hay Bay to be extremely flat bottomed with little to no structure until you got out past Ram island into bigger water. Not sure there are other areas of the BOQ others recommend - we have a 14ft Lund with a 15HP, so trying to avoid the big water parts for safety.
