Smallmouth Strikes on Camera

Was out trolling for walleye on the weekend. We were catching them with cranks off boards. Decided to put the camera and spoon down off a rigger to hopefully get some walleye footage. I never noticed the rod take a hit, and figured it was a waste of time. I checked the footage later that night and what do you know..... smallmouth lol. Oh and a big old sheepie.

a guy I know does this when he salmon fishes. Man it's infuriating seeing them NOT hit it but stare at it and follow it. Hilairious really.

Ive seen this type of recording b4 ,, what type of camera is it and how is it done ??

Ya it's true. If I've learned anything from the camera it's that you miss a lot of fish when trolling!

I believe there is a few company's making these bullet style cameras now. The one I am using is called waterwolf. You attach it directly to your line and run a leader off the business end to your bait.

yours was nice and steady. Some guys have it twisting and swaying and it makes me motion sick watching. Guess a swivel before lure solves that.

This was not my lure/setup of choice for the way we were fishing. We were doing well with crankbaits off planerboards. I put a spoon down with 3ft fluorocarbon off the camera b/c it doesn't dive and gives me steady footage. Using a downrigger for great depth control for the safety of the camera as well. It was simply put down to hopefully get some walleye footage. You can't jerk a downrigger rod to give it action lol. It was just very suprising to see smallmouth and no walleye. Next outing I will be brave and the camera will be off a board with a crank.

The leader line on the spoon is fluoro???
Suprising how large it looks in the video.
Is that more of the movement causing water disturbances or is it coloured line?
