We typically fish the BOQ area in the spring and summer months. (Hay Bay/Pictor/Long Reach and Desoronto). We are planning a trip for our FIRST fall fishing excursion November 1-3. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. We are in a 16 foot deep V. We typically troll/jig/cast. We aren’t outfitted with planer boards or and deep equipment. We’re pretty familiar with some spots within a 30 minute boat ride from the Glenora Ferry. Again, any and all info/tips would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Go out past the glenora ferry towards the gap. Start trolling from anywhere from 100’ deep to 25’ deep. See what your marking. My boat isn’t equip with deep trolling stuff either but managed 3 biggins last year in a 100’ just trolling with deep diving cranks with a 1/4 ounce keel sinker attached

The wind direction and speed will probably determine where you are going to fish being in a smaller boat. Adolphus Reach can be pretty sketchy on windy days. If you can fish there, like mentioned above, get yourself some deep diving crankbaits (20-30 feet) and some 1 ounce snap weights. Linecounter reels are good if you have them. Before you get there have 3 or 4 spots picked out where you can be sheltered from the wind from any direction, and try to launch close to where you want to fish. You will probably have to make last minute decisions on where you are going to fish either the night before or the morning of.

All good tips so far. If you can swing the expense picking up even 2 inline planner boards would definitely help to increase your chances of finding and catching fish. If you fish East of the ferry you can troll with 2 rods per person, so even 1 right side and 1 left side inline planner boards would help you run a nice 4 rod spread, for not too much expense.

Best of luck.

We are headed up this Friday morning, and if the weather cooperates we will try to get out on Friday. If not, The weather is looking better for Saturday and Sunday. We are hoping to troll some deep divers and Worm harnesses and hope to get into some of the big ones. I’ll try to post some info as it becomes available. We will be In the area of Hay bay and the Glenora ferry.

According to Windfinder, Saturday early morning looks like your best shot. Friday is brutal, and Sunday isn't too good either. Look to get some shelter from a west wind on Sunday with gusts into the high 30's (km/h) I hope things change for ya!!

Today we fished the Adolphus Reach just east of the Glenora ferry. We
Trolled deep diving Bombers and Bandits (30 ft troll depth). Marked LOTS of fish and only landed two sheepsheads. They both clocked in over 10 pounds, and although the fight was fun, it wasn’t what we were hoping for. We counted over a dozen boats in the area that we fished. Lots of charter boats out. Didn’t see any planer boards drop or wet nets. We trolled from 8am-2pm. The winds were between 15-20mph and a light drizzle of rain. Hoping for better luck tomorrow.

Never got out on Sunday. The winds were 20-30 mph and the water was wild between 8am and noon.

Not really. We did manage to get action on our rods, but it was only two sheepsheads.
