When is it going to get cold? Im sitting here contemplating a 6-8 hr drive north somewhere so i can drill a hole, fire up the flasher and enjoy some ice fishing. Or might go the other way and pull the boat out of her winter sleep and head to the lake. One way or another I need a fix

Lol ive had the boat out twice over past few days ,, nothing to show but perch but it was nice to get out,. Seems like the ice fishing seasons are getting worse by the year ..theres a large ice fishing tourny on manitoulin island every year and this year isnt looking good ,, wide open water thats ussually 2ft thick by now

IMO its very cyclical, good years of ice making and bad years.
Look at it this way, a lot less fish being harvested, and a lot of hungry fish once we can get on the ice.
I am sure we are all waiting patiently.

I think I'll load up the side x side and head north. Somewhere around Bancroft should have some safe ice. Maybe try a few lakes for a few different species.

If you just want to soak some minnows, there is eight inches plus on the west side of Hwy 62 on Moira Lake. Could hardly believe it but saw a small car drive out to a hut on Sunday.
