Well, looks like Mother Nature is finally starting to co-operate.
As mentioned in my previous posts, I'm new to Knowlton lake. I plan on heading out for some drilling on the Jan 24th/25th weekend.
According to the weather forecast, the ice should be safe by then!

Any advice on the lake in Winter time? Cottage is located on the South East side, water gets deep quickly in front of the cottage.
Just planned on staying close by. Would take a walk down to the West side if that is recommended...

Thanks folks!

you could work the shallow bays and try to find some perch, bluegills or even a crappie, might come across some bass or pike also that want to play. No shortage of shallow bays to play in. Drill or spud lots of holes and move around till you find some fish. Small jigs or spoons tipped with a minnow head or piece of a night crawler or wax worms should work. good luck, cheers!

I've fished it from my boat but never on ice. It's a beautiful lake and love the colour of the water there.

I thin there's a minnow place just at the road you turn on to get toward Knowlton but not sure if they still sell them.

If not, Brown Bear and Bronson and Bronson in Kingston do and may be closest.

Good luck.

Cheers

If you need minnows head over to holleford rd look for Lindsay live bait sign buddy works Monday to Friday so it can be difficult to get minnows some times but weekends seem to be better to catch him at the house

for Zone 18 Lake Trout is closed for ice fishing. Lake trout Season: fourth Saturday in May to September 8
Additional Fishing Opportunities Lake Trout Season: open all year for Loughborough and a number of other lakes listed in the regulations (but not open for Knowlton)

There are two islands directly in front of the public boat launch on the west side with a pretty significant transition. If you set up on the east side of that line we've had good luck with pike.

Thanks for the information. Will be heading out next weekend if the ice thickens enough. Hoping to get in to some Pike or at least a few perch to keep the little guy happy.
I am aware of Lake Trout being off limits but thanks for the reminder.

Thanks guys!

I walked out about 100 ft from shore on Saturday to check the ice. Not very good only about 3 inches and completely snow covered. Looks like nobody been out there this year. Be careful I imagine the deep end is very sketchy

Thanks, Seaserpant for posting! Due to the recent warm weather I've decided to hold off. Hopefully we get a cold front in February.
I was also told by somebody that this lake has problematic areas where the Springs are. I know that most lakes do but I was told that this Knowlton is considered dangerous overall and that snowmobiles have been banned due to the risk of open water from Springs and from some owners using Bubble Systems for their Docks.
I don't plan on using a Snowmobile but I will hope for a cold front before I risk walking out with my family in tow!

So, we are FINALLY making our way to the cottage this weekend as the little guy's hockey season is now over and it seems like Mother Nature has been just bitter enough to apply a layer of ice thick enough.
Just curious to know if anybody has tried Knowlton recently? Obviously I will be checking it out myself and drilling some holes early and often to gauge the ice thickness but since it's a 2 hour drive, was hoping for a little input? I don't think we'll venture very far , although the water depth gets to 30-50 feet deep fairly quick from our shoreline.

Thanks in advance!

Your good to go. 12 inches of ice off the boat launch. Hardly anyone been fishing it so far should be hungry. Good luck
