After doing terrible at Potters on Sunday, we (2 of us) went to the water treatment plant and headed toward the island, but the ice was not safe, had to turn back. We fished the morning straight out from the plant and what started at 4.5 inches was down to 3 inches by 11 am. One small walleye and some perch. Lifted on one big that did not even come off the bottom. Hook popped out. Drove down to Hay Bay and walked straight out from the ramp out to 28 FOW. Caught perch and and 16 walleye, but all walleye were smalls, only 3 eaters. Went back to Hay Bay all day yesterday, moved out to 31 FOW. Bite was slow. 10 walleye, mostly smalls with three eaters. Largest was 5.4#. Also caught ten tanker truck perch. Most walleye on jigging raps with a few on buckshot spoons. Perch liked a gold Swedish pimple and a minnow head. Talked to some guys who fished the sharp break at Thompson’s. No bite there yesterday, had been good earlier. Like Dan said, the fish would mostly just be there. Fish you could see rarely would bite. Very slow!!! Ice was 7 inches. Good condition. BTW, the owner at the Dew Drop reported a local caught a 15.2 in the Reach I think late last week before the ice became unsafe.
