Curious if anyone has experience fishing Collins Bay between Kingston and Bath.

WesRams, i have seen guys fishing out from Finkles Park out a long way. Maybe 1000 ft out. I suspect they are fishing Lake Trout. Ive often seen up to three trucks parked to the right of the chip truck. Ice is not always safe in this area so go with a friend and spud your way if you decide to try it. BATMAN

saw a portable in Collins Bay on Friday . Georges dock had pulled away from the shore and was out a short distance into the bay.

I’d avoid The North channel at all costs. The wind opened it back up by brother islands and has cleared a path west. The ice is all broken up into plates in front of amherstview. Plus it was open water a week ago.

Went for a drive today. Open water ends around Nicholson pt. There was a hut out west of milllhaven and another from Finkles pretty far out. Can’t see any open water from bath. Who knows how thick it is though.

I live near Lake O in Amherstview. For today Feb 18 a big south wind has blown all the ice in these parts northward leaving an open channel along the north shore of Amherst Island so that there is open water from lower gap extending west for at least 2 km (as far as I can see). The mass of ice floes along the north shore here are moving up and down by almost a foot due to the swells moving in through the lower gap. IMHO the north channel is better suited for windsurfing than ice fishing on a day like today. This wind on Lake O is moving a lot of water and a lot of ice around.

Rhanks for the info guys. I ended up driving to collins bay on Saturday. Seen one hut set up about 200 yards off the church boat launch. Ice looked good but I did not venture. Stopped at finkles cause I seen 3 guys out 500 meters out. I went out parallel to them about 300m. Drilled a hole and ***.my pants....2 inches of ice. Hmmmm walked back to my truck and thanked the big guy above.
Proceeded to Huffs and had a great day marking TONS of.walleye. Brought home a single 5lb male eater. Bit big of an eater for me but was a superb day of learning all in all.
