I've got a friend coming fishing Mon. & Tues. Is Big Island (off Wagar's) is my best bet for good ice? The Church?

Just thought I would try to help out a little. Last time I was out from Big Island there was about 8-10 inches off of wagers but I heard there is a big pressure crack that has developed on Big Bay. I'm not sure if that would affect you off of Wagers though.

I've read that the Church has good ice as well...

Although, being the bay...always proceed with caution, spud...etc.

Is there still good ice at the church? I am planning on fishing on Friday there. Just wanted to check before I make the 2hour drive. Thanks

Thanks for the responses to my question. We fished on a little over 1 ft. of ice over the last 2 days on Big Bay. Not what I expected but plenty safe right now. We were just west of the big pressure crack. Iced a 5lb. & lost what had to be an 8 lb 'eye at the hole. Those were the only 2 bites over the 2 days aside from 1 scrawny perch. Still much better than a day at work. The ice is already starting to get mealy and saturated. We just might see an early end to the season.
