I just bought a new boat. I can launch at Collins Bay, is there any food fishing lake trout or pickerel in the General area in the spring

Congrats on the new boat. There is walleye fishing in the area from opener till around October. Best time being July-oct.

Lake trout are easiest to target as soon as ice out and are plentiful in the area.

Be careful of the big tires on the Collins Bay dock or they will scuff up your new boat use fenders.

Lake Trout can usually be caught just after ice out on the east end of Amherst Island. The fish are in quite shallow. Maybe 10 to 20 feet. Long line minnow baits or spoons. BATMAN

I've been told that Trolling around Lemoine Point in the spring can be productive, I've seen video about fishing, albeit during the middle of the night.

That might be place to start, not far from the launch in case the weather changes.

Lotsa luck with the new craft.

Fishing within Collins Bay is quite good for pike, bass, walleye and even salmon in the fall.

You won't have to travel far and as SuperDad mentioned, trolling off Lemoine's Point for walleye can be excellent.

Congratulations on the new boat and will probably see you at the ramp this spring.

Cheers
