"This is the legislation for groups of 5. There is nothing about 6’ distancing or fishing with people from another address as long as there are no more than 5 of you."

Thank you, thank you!

Cheers

I would think if you were coming by boat from the states you want to get a hold of border patrol but as far as I see it the border is closed for medical reasons meaning you can't cross into Canadian territory. With the border open he couldn't anchor unless he reported in, and if the ministry checked him he would have to report in. I would be more concerned about getting back.

Good points above.

I know that when I had a New York license, I could cross the Niagara River into New York State and fish their waters for Muskie and Bass. So long as I didn't anchor or dock the boat and step ashore in Buffalo I did not need to inform the authorities. Same thing applied to my return to Canada. No need to inform the Canadian authorities if I didn't physically step ashore in the States.
The rules for this might have changed and got thrown out with the bath water with the closing of the borders

To be on the safe side, Mr. Pike would do well to check with the CBA as well as his own border patrol.

The original question was from a US member who was wondering if he would be allowed to travel BY BOAT from the US side to fish Green Point on the opening weekend. His ramps/marina on the US side is open.

So long as he doesn't leave his boat and step on shore, I don't see why he can't.

actually, i was not thinking of traveling across the border by boat to fish Green Pt. My question was are we prohibited from crossing the border to fish Canadian waters based on the closed border in place. No plan to land in Ontario. Based on the various responses i have seen on this site and others, i do not think anyone knows for sure. Will wait and see if anyone gets throw in jail this weekend.

Well, if you get tossed in jail, don't tell them you were told on the Quinte Fishing Forum you were OK.

You have all ready gone round and round on this on another board you cross the closed border when you cross the International Boundary not when you touch land

Transport Canada

@Transport_gc

You may only travel between #Canada & the #US on your boat for essential purposes. You will be denied entry if you are travelling for non-essential purposes, like tourism, recreation, and entertainment. If you do go, you must report to border services when crossing the border.

Friend called both transport canada and canadian customs and was told that as long as no anchoring or touching land, we can cross to fish. note: dont let those jigs touch bottom :)
