Yes the season opens at midnight and yes every municipality on Quinte has closed and blocked all launcheds including backroad ones like Huff's and others.

When old Doug said you can fish on shore, and the season is not closed, I guess you have to look at the word "shore" in that statement.

Fishing is fishing whether on shore or in a boat, you just have to have a private launch to launch your boat.

So we all know that boats are supposed to be off limits.
How about shore fishing. Doug said fishing from shore is ok. Is that true. Fishing from shore is going to be ok........or will we be shamed for doing that ?

Boats aren't off limits, boat launches are. You can fish all you want from shore or boat.

If anyone comes up to you and tells you you can't, tell em to beat it, including Doug.

Good Luck to all that can get out on the bay to start the year off walleye fishing. I am envious it has been 36 years I have fished the opener on the bay of Quinte and this is the first year I have missed. Hopefully it won't be to many more weeks until I can have my turn at the great eats the bay has to offer.

Stay safe everyone

20 -30 boats in mouth of the Trent this morn (10 am) - no idea how they were doing - no MNR or OPP boats seen - great morning to be out on the water!
