Quinte Fishing

We need the trailer parks open now. Now that the boat launches are open or opening soon we need the trailer parks open for us visitors. There is no reason in my opinion that trailer parks can't be opened up and practice social distancing. If a guy and his wife was to bring weekend provisions and stay to themselves and launch there boat and stay to themselves I see no issues with this at all.


Come on Ford Government Open the trailer parks

Sure, let's open the campgrounds so all the campers from the GTA can come to eastern Ontario and bring the joy from there, they do have over 7,000 cases.

They'll come to the County and Napanee and Belleville and Kingston and Brockville and then we can see if our hospitals can handle the extra load on them because the virus will come with them.

There is a reason that campgrounds and trailer parks are closed, cept for permanent residents and snowbirds.

I miss being at our place on Hay Bay, but recognize that it would be unwise to open things up until the surge of the virus abates.

Agreed 100% Superdad! All of the restrictions put in place are there for that reason. The sooner we get this virus under control the sooner we can start to relax and hopefully get back to something close to normal.

Superdad, I am not trying to trivialize the numbers or the extend of the virus in the GTA, but the 7000 cases you mentioned are total cases to date. Of those 7000, over 5000 have recovered. Certainly not a cause for celebration and dramatically different than the extremely low rate of infection here in Hastings Prince Edward. More small steps needed before we throw the doors open, but so far headed in the right direction.

If Toronto is the problem. Why should we all suffer?

Totally agree with super dad on this I have good friend from Cambridge him and 3 of his work buddies are coming down next weekend spend the weekend walleye fishing this is just one example of many more that will flock from GTA to quinte
It’s still to early to open as much as it sucks also agree with Doug ford telling city of Kingston and kFL&A they are not aloud to go rouge unreal those 2 thought they new what was best for the people of Kingston and kFL&A Back fire

100% in agreement Superdad, however it's not just Toronto, the Bay draws fisherman from the GTA, Ottawa and Quebec. I am in full support of opening the ramps to locals, i.e. residents who live in the surrounding counties, who have by design or plain luck have collectively kept the local infection rates so low, however I am not sure how that could be effectively controlled or even the legalities. I am sure those with more knowledge of the various acts can add to the knowledge base.
Rather than bay at the moon on a fishing site, in my honest opinion the best route would be to contact your local Major, MLA, MP and ask them how to proceed with local use only.

I find it ironic that the GTA is not opening their own ramps however their residents want to drive 2 hours and use ours?

Sandbanks park will open this week …...We're @&(^&^^ Good thing they closed those boat ramps.

I believe the Provincial Parks are only open for day use. Hiking and Biking.

Yes Marbleyes, i agree with you on this. Send an email to the local council in this area expressing your opinions on the situation as i have.

As far as walleye fishing goes there really are no boat launches in the GTA. That's why people travel to the Bay from 2 hours away. It's been going on for many many years. Also the fact that Quinte opens up 1 week earlier than most other places. The Kawartha Lakes Region is opening up launches this week and a very high percentage of walleye fisherman from the "outside" will be heading to those lakes just like every other year.

One also has to keep in mind, these numbers only represent those that have been tested for the virus. This excludes the 100's of thousands that hasn't so who really knows what the real numbers are.

They should make sure they don't allow any food at the sandbanks or the guys will have to have a hasmat outfit to clean up after them.

Word is that campgrounds are going to be part of Dougies announcement tomorrow. Don't know of that wording includes trailer parks or not

Read something online that said today's Ford announcement will include opening of golf courses, marinas and campgrounds. Wait and see. I hope as restrictions are lifted we all embrace each other's safety with physical distancing and in close quarters wearing mask. In other words don't take it personally if I ask you to back up a bit when I see you in public. I look at the 2 meters as a bare minimum. I have people in my bubble who do have health issues. Be safe
