Got out to fish after completing a DIY task on the deck and headed to Sherman's Point, as the word from Thursday was a hot bite. We began fishing out in the middle of Long Reach as there a number of boats clustered from the Red Marker about 600 yards south.

We put our Uzick Spinners with 60 feet of line, hadn't fished for four mins and we had a fish on, it was a lifter???? What's a lifter? a fish you can flip into the boat as it is really small.

On our 1st pass to the lighthouse, we landed 4 all small.

WE continued fishing downwind as the chop rose to almost 2 feet, on an approach to the Sherman's Shoal, I shortened my line to 40 and had a strike and landed a 16.5 incher good for the table.

Next trolling pass, we had another hit and this one was taking drag, into the net a fine 19.5 incher.

We started at 1015 and finished at 1300, with a final count of 8 fish landed, 6 lifters and a fine pair, it looked like lots of nets over the sides of many boats in the area.

WE got the fish on both Orange and Chartruse Uzick's.

Looking for larger fish next week - Stay Tuned.

Hey Superdad thanks for the thorough report. Hoping to get back out Monday or Tuesday. Ive had sporadic success in that same area mostly of your so called "lifters" variety.

Great report SD - Any sign of shad on the fishfinder or in the bellies of the fish you cleaned?

Didn't check the stomach contents - can't help solve what they're eating.....
