Was out to fish with our family bubble, and headed over to Mallory, even tho the SW wind was pounding into Mallory. Fished the north side and when we were down by the A-Frame, William the 13 yr old said he thought he had a fish but wasn't sure, Maybe the bottom!!!! Dad felt the rod and gave it back as there were head shakes.
William adjusted the drag and slowly worked the line in, it sure was bending the rod. Finally it got closer and we could see a HUGE pile of weed on the weight, BUT there was a glimmer of gold. Reeling hard he brought the fish up to net - A MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a fish, it was 26 inches on the tape and a healthy 6.5lbs. A really nice fish, Pictures taken on our phones and the fish slipped away no worse for wear.
High Fives all around. Fish was caught on an Orange Uzick Spinner.
The wind blew us out of Mallory, over to Thompsons but that area has changed with the dropping waters, made our way over to the Chruch for one pass, marked a large number of fish off shore in deeper water, no takers.
