Out to look for fish in Long Reach and we found them, we also found the huge schools of baitfish, where the big fish were hanging around the buffet table.
Began trolling near Q8 and just put our the Flicker Minnow and the planer board, looking to see how my passenger was doing letting his line out and I glanced over my shoulder and my planer board was gone, that took almost a minute.
Sure enough there was a fish on, bringing it in, the fish swirled, oops, wrong species.....
Yes it was a sheepie, that weighed a plump 8.5 lbers - over the side it went.
That was IT for the rest of the day, we fished from 0845- 1245, not a bump. Other boats at Shermans had the same result, everyone was doing different things, bottom-bouncing, jigging, casting, trolling spinner and trolling cranks.
It's the August Doldrums, happens on the inner bay the last two weeks of August, wait til September.
