Sorry don't agree with nothing on that read why #s are down and trust me they are down considerably comparing to last year. 4 man limits of 6 per person are non existent unless your going to spend the whole day on the water comparing to last year when you only needed couple hours at most.

I have heard the fishing has been tougher this year on Erie, especially the East end. When I go down we fish out of Port Glasgow in the West, it has been a bit slower than last year, but if the winds co-operate and you can get out and fish effectively, we are still getting 3 or 4 person limits in a few hours, most days.

I fished Lake Erie last year for the first time. It is quite the fishery. We did well. Two guys running a four rod spread using dipseys, riggers and leadcore. Once you had them dialed in it didn’t take long to get you two man limit of twelve. Some days double and triple headers were common.

This year was a little different. We started fishing Erie after Canada day. The mnr told us that the water temp was cooler this year and that’s why a lot of rainbows were caught. We also found that the majority of walleyes were up high. 25’ down in 60’ of water. Flat lining with cranks on planar boards did most of the damage. We were still getting our limit in 3-4 hrs.

I believe the fish population is still there but it’s all about adapting to the conditions.
