I have never launched at Finkles ramp before but I have stopped in to look at it a couple of times now and it looks like a tricky one if you are solo launching. Especially with the rocks on the left and the dock being where it is. Any tips? I have a 18 ft Lund.
Thanks!

The ramp can be tricky in a wind, the dock was built with horizontal boards so your gunnels can get underneath and get wacked pretty good, you need fenders or bumpers. Make sure you line up and go straight down, if you get off the center than you risk going over the edge of the ramp on the sides and you will rip a tire.

I solo as well. Based on previous wind issues, I will only use this ramp if wind is out of the North or it is dead calm.

I personally won’t launch there solo unless it’s dead calm or north wind. West isn’t horrible but east or south is brutal.

I really wish they’d put a 30’ floating dock off the end of the peer. That would solve so many issues.

Launched there this summer in a moderate sw wind, it was very difficult, I wasn’t comfortable driving on to trailer so I hooked rope in front to pull it on, boat got bouncing in the waves and came off, I had to jump in and catch Boat before it hit rocks. Not the easiest launch, by far Belleville is the best, Trenton are not good.

Loyalist Township has completed preliminary design work for the refurbishment of the boat launch site at Finkle's Shore Park. The project includes refurbishment of the parking lot, painting of the line, improvement of the boat launching grid and partial restoration of the shoreline. This spring it is planned to replace the boat. During this time, the boat will not be available for use. Also in the spring of this year, the reconstruction of the parking lot will be completed. I really like this place and this wind. Therefore, soon I plan to move somewhere closer to the finkles ramp via AceLine Moving.
