Was down for a look this afternoon. No one out there. Conditions looked iffy, visible open water in some areas.

Any updates since last Thursday?? Would prefer 5-6 inches for myself and my wife to walk out on.

I was out last night. Some spots were very sketchy. 4 inches in one area and a little less than 2 inches (of white crappy ice) only 2 feet away. Heard the ice crack and retreated. Spudded a hole in 3 inches nearby (again white ice). After 90 mins the hole widen and ice was eroding so I packed up and left. Wasn’t a fun experience. Always bring your spud and don’t stop spudding even if there’s lots of ice in one area. The ice Varys quite a bit especially at aikens with the strong current from the narrows.

Be safe!

Thanks for the info. Helps a lot. I'll find somewhere else to go.

Fished it today on the North Side on an 11 ft flat hoping mr wally would show up for a perch platter dinner, No show. Lots of perch did not mark a walleye to the best of my knowledge, perch were all in the 4-8 inch range. Ice was 1" snow cover with 8-9 inches of black hard ice.
