Good morning Wordpecker,
Although I am an unknown source for you, I'll pony up some hard (water) facts for consideration. Also know that my "Minister of Internal Affairs" (as she is affectionately known) is very invested in my decision making process when it comes to hitting the ice. So I share your circumstances.
Back to some facts. A group of us went out yesterday for the end-of-day fish. We went out from north shore of big island. We were out about 1 km. Close approximation the spot... 44.15 - 77.25 We were on 9 inches (measured/legit number) of black ice. We had 4 wheelers. There were 5 other huts around us, who also had bikes. There were others scattered around further away.
It was the most, & best quality, ice I've been on all season. It was also the slowest outing in terms of fish results. Lol!
Relative to Rednersville, this is a bit east of you but, it's some info to consider.
Good luck.
ps.... Maybe try flowers??
