Some Salmon being caught at the Bonnet along with Rainbows. Salmon seem very scattered yesterday as a lot of rough water over the weekend Went out yesterday to Salmon Point along with many others very foggy reduced visibility made for tough fishing. Nearly everyone caught Salmon but for the most part lines were pulled around noon hour and everyone very carefully found their way back to the harbour.

Yes they are!! Last weekend I've seen plenty of them on my fishfinder around the Scotch Bonnet Shoal, and plenty of baitfish as well! They were in about 50 feets of water.

Unfortunately I went only Sunday and I had to leave early because of the tornado alert..!

I have friends that have catched a couple of 20 pounders last weekend. They launched their boats from Presqu'Île Bay.

Was suposed to go to Main Duck but went to the bonnet yesterday. Made a few passes at the bonnet then checked out Nicholson for smallies and back out to Mcfauls. No fish for us but some guys were getting a few.

One boat was on the radio with everybody he could find reporting 7 in the box, that added to my guys frustration. When I told the guys it was the boat right by us there was talk of piracy so if you come to the bonnet don't forget your "cannons".

Good to see some guys out hunting those chinooks.

:?: Does the return of spawning shad in the bay and area help you guys hunt them in your end of the lake???

Week #1 the weight is 37 +. 8O

Good luck fellas!!

Good weekend for those that went to the Bonnet on the weekend, unfortunately Saturday spent the entire day at Salmon Point north side. Marked all kinds of bait and hooks, but no takers meanwhile other did catch one or two. Listened to reports coming from the Bonnet about everyone having a great day fishing but decided to wait until Sunday. Two boats at the bonnet staying at our camp came in with full coolers all fish high teens low twenties. Went to the bonnet on Sunday netted 4 all between 19.1lb and 24.3lb again most Captains were reporting good catch's. Our Salmon came off an Silver Blue Enticer, Sutton 44# and a Holgram Flasher with silver head. Found the brighter the silver the better chance you were to catch Salmon. Others at our camp stated the same.

Black and purple has been my #1, but green and silver and my dodger with fly were star preformers last time out. The surface temps are on the rise 64 + up almost 10 points from the last time in my area.

After the storm yesterday the lake has warmed up some, but the bite today was slow. Cut bait on a fly and green/silver 40' down over 60 - 70 FOW got fish early today. Most bait fish were marked in shallow tight to the bottom. Chinooks were small 22 lbs max and a couple rainbow for the morning. We did well, if you can believe the VHF, by 11am most boats were at the dock.

All released. Shook off at the side of the boat, and no floaters.

Went out tonight with Bruce S. de Belleville to try to find some beasts near Presqu'Île / Nettey Patch. We've seen a lot of baitfish and a couple of big arches but no catch for us unfortunately.

We'll try again this Saturday and Sunday.

Hi Ron!

You're more than welcome to ask for help!! I live in Brighton/Presqu'Île and although that place is closer to Ottawa than Cobourg & Port Hope, I won't recommend it for you since you have to cross all the bay to reach the big lake and then you have to travel 30 minutes to reach the Scotch Bonnet Island, which is the place here to fish for salmon. In Presqu'Île Bay, the fishing is not good at all anymore anyway and the salmon is not there either. You have to go in the big Lake O. So, it will be a lot better for you to travel a little bit more on the 401 highway and launch your boat from either Port Hope or Port Darlington (which is 100 km after Trenton). I don't recommend Cobourg simply because they don't have an operationnal fish cleaning station. Both Port Hope & Port Darlington have cleaning stations and they are more fishermen dedicated marinas than Cobourg (which is more a sailboat marina). At those places also the fishing is done just outside the harbour in august so having a 14' boat is not a problem most of the time.

If you come to Port Darlington give me a call and I'll be more than happy to help you if you want. I run my charter boat from there. Everybody over there is very friendly. Lot of francophones too from Montreal and Quebec. And some local people too.
