Hello, someone I know is considering a pop up hut. He's looking at a Woods product that is in the Canadian Tire flyer, and is wondering about how the brand stacks up. I have no perspective on the Woods brand for huts, mine is a Clam. Can anyone provide feedback on the Woods ice fishing huts?

Woods has always been a good standard for sleeping bags but has always been known for low end camping products. When it comes to their pop up ice shelters they are again on the low end compared to Clam, Frabill, Eskimo or Otter. For another hundred dollars you could get an Eskimo shelter of better quality. If you icefish only a couple times a winter maybe the woods would meet your needs. You would be happier with a non Woods product. BATMAN

Agree. Love my Woods spud, but they peaked in terms of ice fishing there. Huts have small wind flaps, finicky zippers and a premium price. Plus little or no reflective markings. Just my 2 cents.

Having actually owned a woods pop up ice hut, I can tell you that they are every bit as good as other brands. I believe the hub is probably made by ardisam/Eskimo. I bought mine on clearance at a local Canadian tire for $100 so I figured I had nothing to lose if it was junk. Turns out it’s probably the best quality non insulated hub I’ve ever owned!
