This year has been a little different for me in the jigging part. I’ve always used a full minnow. I am a guy that do not like big mud minnows cause half the time I get bite in half so I like medium to smaller muds. But this year I have t caught a single fish on a full minnow. I’ve probably put 20+ fish top side this year and they have all came with just the minnow ripped In half. Doesn’t matter the size.
What’s everyone else experiencing this year

Gord Pyzer once said "I wouldn't give you a nickle for a minnow, but I'd give you a quarter for the head". err something like that.

Almost never use a full minnow myself. I like doing some pretty aggressive hops and I can't stand it when you foul hook your own minnow while the next world record is eye ballin' the bait.

So, only the head half works and not the tail end? Never tried this but I just may give it a shot. This should also bring on some more interesting comments, what's best, some head or a piece of tail? lol

Lol....back on course.
All my fish are on heads....same lure full minnow...natta.
...and i prefer muds to shiners.
Using Clam Leech Flutter Spoon in red/gold has outfished everything in the box.

Also caught 20+ walleyes but they where all caught with full minnows. Either two or three minnows. That said, I should try just minnow heads now. I haven't caught a walleye in over a week. Maybe tomorrow morning. BATMAN

Sorry to come in at the TAIL end of this post
I’ve been fishing almost exclusively with my camera this year no sonar. It’s very interesting to watch how the fish behave to different set ups. I noticed that with a whole minnow they approach it very cautiously, but they will take it if you give them time to eat it. With only the head they tend to come in a little more aggressively. And then there are times where they’ll come in have a look and sniff and then they’re gone. Very entertaining.
