Rigging up a dipsey rod with Torpedo 19 Strand line and couldn't find any info on what knot to use on teminal tackle. Sent Torpedo an email and they replied to use a "single overhand knot". Anyone have any experience with this stuff because I do not. Thanks

I have done this many times, but couldn't find the reference on where i got it as its been a few years since i retied it. Just loop the 19-strand through the swivel and over it like a half hitch. Then up the line about an inch or two, tie a single over hand (plain knot) with the main line and the tag line together.

this line is a must have for dispy's. If you get a chance, run the weighted steel with 19-strand (for non-dipsy applications). Its a killer on my boat and one of my main rods all year long as a straight line out the back. This stuff gets deep. 50' of mono backer / 1000 ' of 19-strand then 200' of weight steel. Goes 44' with all weighted steel out, plus another 40 with another 200 of 19-strand out.

I use Blood Run copper line and do well with it, i tried the weighted steel and it did not work out for me, the copper is easier to set up and do terminations but you have to be careful with it. In a side by side test the copper outfished the steel easily using the same lures and lengths on both rods. The steel is a lot more forgiving.So if i read you right you are running 400 foot leeds?

I hear you on terminating the weighted steel. Just the thought of the OPs knot question brought back some memories of trying to figure out how to tie all these. I did run copper for a bit, just wasn't for me, found that the steel gets deeper if needed, very versatile. I only run 200' steel usually to cover the top half of the water column, but prior to me running riggers i would put out 400' on a CW 55 reel, quite the chore reeling this stuff in. I know this setup takes more fish than any other for some reason.

I switched from the cable to 60 pound braid for my dipsey setups. A lot less headaches with the braid and can use the same set up for trolling big lures for pike and Muskie in the fall.

I moved from braid to 19 strand and won't go back. I make a loop in the end and pass this through the swivel eye and then the swivel through the loop to form a slip knot on the eye. Then tie a single overhand knot in the main together with the short tag, about a half inch above swivel eye Spoonpullers.com has a lot of info.

You can always use crimp sleeves like the downrigger termination, only smaller. I do that for my other rigs
