Anyone know where I can find some frozen smelts? Used to see them in bags in the grocery store, but no dice.
Anyone who knows, would be appreciated if you could let me know where you have seen them.
Thanks!
Brad

Mike Mundell's Surf & Turf Stores (613) 546-3293 used to have smelt on the board.

Not sure where you are located but in the winter I have bought them at Glenburnie Grocery. I would call first.

Thanks! Likely headed to Loughborough...so that is on the way! Worst case I don't have them, and just use spin and glo's, but that cuts the catch to at least 50% of what it could be!!

Are you trolling with the smelts? I have only used them in the winter.

Food Basics have bags of frozen sardines, small like smelt, 5.99 a bag.

Can they substitute?

Have never tried them. We troll with frozen smelts. Seems to work better than anything. Have tried Live Target Smelt, worked ok, but not near as good.

Spin and Glo works ok too...but got skunked last year one day without the froze ones.
Thanks everyone,
Brad
