My buddy came up this weekend to visit me on my home lake for a couple of days of fishing. Despite the fronts rolling through (parkas one day, t-shirts the next), we found some co-operative Bass (SM & LM), a few Walleye, and a bunch of axe-handle size Pike...that kept us re-tying rigs. We also found a whack load of Slabs that ended up starring in the Sunday night fish fry. Biggest Smallie taped out at 21".
With fish generally in a negative mood...finesse presentations got the most results. Ned Rigs and Drop Shots in dark natural colours triggered all species. With the barometer bouncing all over the place, fish were hunkered deep along weed-lines down 20 to 30 ft. Surface temp was 73F.
I must say...its nice not having to deal with clowns at the launch ramps. Especially those that feel they have to "power" on to the trailer, leaving a hole to swallow the next guy. It's just such a pleasure to open my patio door, stroll a few steps down to my dock with coffee in hand, turn the key and go fishing. No trucks, trailers, straps, or parking issues. It's probably why at my age, I'm reluctant to try new spots...
