After 25 years of not getting out fishing at Scotch Bonnet, I am finally hauling my boat on the 9 hour trip south and plan to hit up Scotch Bonnet again. I am hearing of low water and difficulty launching in West Lake is this right or has the water come up? Also being the first time in 25ish years since I have been to the Bonnet, I was wondering if there is any advice people are willing to share as last time I was there it was chartreuse ford fenders.

What size boat are you bringing? My 20 foot regal has had no issues. There's about 3' of water at the shallowest point.

Walleye, I am bringing down my fishing pontoon so as long as I can get it in the water I should be good at 3 feet. I know I will have to watch the weather and the calmer days to head out but at least on the rougher days, I can hang out on the dunes. I grew up spending my summers on West Lake (before it was popular) and I am finally getting the chance to bring the family down that way to show them how amazing the area is. Just hope the big lake is calm enough during the week and a half I am down there and the fish are biting.

Westlakecharlie it was most likely us as we launched at Kleistubers and I did make it out there on the 27th. We had a couple of knock offs but nothing landed. It was nice on the ride out but got a little rough for the pontoon as the rain hit and pulled off sooner than I wanted to. Still better than a good day at the office... My brother-in-law showed up with his v-hull and we got out on August 1st again. Not many boats out there so we were trolling blind but I did see my first waterspout. We also did pretty good in my old haunts on west lake. Good feed of pickerel, a couple of trophy smallies and a 7 pound pike.

I do have to admit, the County has changed in the past 20ish years.

Whoof! You ain't kidding, Bud! We've been here since 1996, and things today barely match our earlier years! Welcome to the "Shoulda been here yesterday" Club.~
