Hello
Like some advice on targeting kings mid September, will be visiting Wellington for the week and was going to bring my boat up from Sarnia.

By mid-September most mature Chinook will be staging around their natal river mouths...if not already entering the tributaries. They lose their appetite as sex becomes the only thing on their mind; however, trolling with big "in-your-face" baits like Lymans and J-Plugs can trigger aggression bites. I'd target rivers that get substantial runs like the Ganaraska....first and last light, from tight to the piers to 60fow. On weekends it can be combat fishing with boats criss-crossing trolling routes.

The alternative is to fish teenage Kings (still a healthy 12 to 20lbs) offshore in the "blue zone" (300+ fow). Out there you will find them actively feeding in the top 1/5 of the water column...lots of Steelhead in the mix too.
