cormorants

Been thinking of throwing the gun in the boat when I'm fishing this fall. Usually fish from Deseronto to Picton. Has anyone seen large groups of cormorants in the area? I've heard they are there but haven't seen any sign of roosting. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be great and I'll see if I can help out the fish population.

Wake, new Pal (Welcome, btw!) we have one little bit of advice - try to avoid mentioning what you were thinking of "in the boat" in any future comments.

If the wrong people see that, you could spend some 'heavy lifting Time' digging out of a bother-some situ you wouldn't enjoy.

No worries, maybe just eliminate the comment in that original post.

This time of year the cormorants are flocking up and moving. Basically, anywhere there's open water, they'll fly by throughout the day.

In the past, I've seen lots down by Sherman's and south in the big bay towards Glenora.

Totally legal Wordpecker! As long as motor is not running and lifted out of the water and you are not shooting at houses!!

Was out off Mallory Bay, Bygott's Bay and Carnachan Bay yesterday. Don't know the names of the points.

No fish but tons of cormorants. Also lots by Keith shoal.

Lots of shooting in the area, probably geese.

It was a beautiful day out.

Telegraph narrows just west of the Deseronto bridge there was 100’s of them LOL have fun

I've been hearing gun shots at the Brothers Islands, before duck hunting opened, so thinking they're shooting cormorants.

motor does not have to be out of the water, just not under power.

Hunters are permitted to hunt double-crested cormorants from a stationary motorboat. This means the motorboat must not be in motion and the power to the motor must be turned off.
