With only 4 small lakers in 12 trips you could say that the lakers have not been cooperating. On my last trip I ran into Dan and his crew on the ice. We were fishing similar areas but they were putting way more fish topside. Hans was nice enough to give me a live jigging tutorial while I was chatting them up.
Went out yesterday eager to try the tip, and thanks you Dan and Hans.
I went 10 for 10 in an afternoon. New ice personal best 17.5 pound.
The tip you ask.
"Once a fish takes interest and starts chasing, try not to catch it". If trout almost catches it coming up, drop it. If they almost catch it on the drop, reel it up.they choke it!
I have said it before and I will say it again, this site offers great advice and host great anglers that are happy to help.

Ice was getting pretty soft today. Careful if you venture next couple days. Still lots but the spud sinks pretty deep right now
