The video is about 15 minutes live but the bust happens in the last few minutes. I wonder if they got out of there alive. I wish they kept the camera rolling longer

"On Friday, a competitive fishing tournament in Cleveland went off the rails after the two winning anglers were found to have loaded up their five fish with lead balls and other items, adding eight pounds of total weight. They were immediately disqualified and stripped of the ~$30,000 prize."

This cheating news has made ALL the news networks, both in Canada and USA.

Did they look guilty when told about the weights and fillets

legit high end tournaments have a volunteer in the boat to go out with the angler to make sure there is no cheating

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WOIO) - Authorities in Hermitage, Pennsylvania seized a boat on Tuesday that is believed to be connected to the viral cheating scandal by two men during a walleye tournament on Lake Erie.

Source: NewsNation
According to reports from CBS affiliate WKBN, the Mercer County District Attorney and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources obtained a warrant on Oct. 11 to take the boat, registered to Chase Cominsky, into evidence as a part of the ongoing investigation.

Cominsky, of Hermitage, Pa., along with Jacob Runyan, of Cleveland, were caught cheating in the tournament held on Sept. 30 by adding lead weights and fish filets, that appeared to be previously prepared, to the fish they caught in an attempt to increase the total weight.

I hope they throw the book at them. Scrutinears are usually only in boats on the final day and usually only in top ten boats although some tourneys have them as random draws the day of to keep them honest.

Jacob Runyan, 42, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Chase Cominski, 35, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, were indicted in Cleveland on felony charges of cheating, attempted grand theft, possessing criminal tools and misdemeanour charges of unlawfully owning wild animals. They’re due to be arraigned Oct. 26.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury delivered the charges on Oct. 12. Cheating, attempted grand theft, and possessing criminal tools are each considered felony in the fifth degree and carry a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison and $2,500 in fines. Unlawful ownership of wild animals is considered a fourth degree misdemeanor that could result in 30 days in jail and a $250 fine. If the defendants are convicted of all four charges, they face upwards of three years behind bars and over $7,500 in restitution.

Cominsky’s boat and trailer were seized as part of the “possessing criminal tools” charge, and the “unlawful ownership of wild animals” comes from the slimy chunks of extraneous walleye found stuffed down the throats of the tournament catch. If they’re convicted on that charge, they could lose their fishing licenses indefinitely.

Wow that’s garbage. Unless I’m missing something, they lose fishing license for 3 years, pay no fines, lose a boat (that they won by cheating most likely) and do no jail time.

Where’s the deterrent?

Don’t worry if you get caught, you just give back some of what you won by cheating and it’s all good.
