For Browns you need to go to other side of PEC...launch out of Wellington. Start along the shoreline in Athol Bay...10 to 20 fow at 1.5 to 2mph. Ideally zig-zag where clear and murky water meet. In my experience, stickbaits have always outproduced spoons for early spring Browns. Also, in shallow water spoons tend to get hung up on bottom when making "S" turns...which often are key in triggering bites...with floating stickbaits you get that nice rise & fall..

I heard the stories as well from guys at my work catching browns off shore in front of the same places and trolled from the old Celanese plant to Lemoines point a few times last spring with no luck either. As said, Athol Bay has been my best spot as well with spoons getting the nod. But I've often wanted to try around Wolfe Island for browns. Has anyone tried around there before?

The OMNR hasn't stocked Browns at Millhaven in over 20 years. There aren't any suitable tributaries in the area to support natural reproduction...so unless they're strays, that North Channel population is long gone.

Hi Gap. I seen you i think out there. I came out a bit after you in the blue Ranger bass boat. We’re you in the bass boat trolling with boards or the big deep V white boat running around. We stayed out for four hours but yes the north west winds originally forecasted turned to south west shortly after we got out and we’re rocking and rolling to much at the gap. I managed one nice laker off Brendan’s and missed another but she was a bit chilly so we packed it in.

Yes that was me in the Lund Pro V with the red boards out. Not white though. Switched to just the riggers when it got really rough.

Is the Wellington launch open? Was thinking of trying for browns but wondering if we missed our opportunity for the spring bite?
