I have been out a few times at a few different areas including the river. In the river I found the fish are not quite set up my usual spots. After checking several spots went to the closest shore and sure enough found several bass spawning. Yesterday launched into lake ontario after a 20 km drive and just as I arrived at a spot my engine started to make a funny sound but no alarms. Hmm what to do... It was early yet so we decided to do some fishing and let the engine cool down before deciding if I needed to call for a tow. Caught a bunch but the enjoyment was over shadowed by the motor problem. It took me over 2 hours to idle back and thankfully it was calm out. The fish I did catch were all 3 to high 4lbs and in schools so we were able to double up on some catches by throwing a ned rig out before netting the fish on. Hopefully nothing to expensive to repair on the engine (Ha who am I kidding!). Last week fished some shorelines in the lake and caught some fish but had a ton of follows by some really big fish(over 5lbs) that were having none of it. Its frustrating once they know you are there and turn lockjaw. In the meantime until my engine is back online anyone chasing smallies with an open seat offer I know a guy.

Oh Dan, I feel for ya.

I've come to realize, when you make it home without a tow, it's always a good day.

In May, my boat suddenly wouldn't go in forward gear and had to drive in reverse from the South of Garden Island to West St. launch, then call a cab to get my truck and trailer from POH.

The boat was soaked from stuffing waves and had one hell of a sore neck but you know you've got good fishing partners, when they can laugh it off and will go back out again with you.

Good luck with the boat and thanks for the smallie report.

Cheers

Just a follow up post. The engine problem was the air compressor. Fortunately the piston in the compressor didn't send any metal into the block. That's the 2nd one that's done that on the engine and mercury shows zero in stock. Decided its time to repower and found a 2018 250 Yamaha SHO for stroke. Just got it back and what a difference over the 2006 pro xs. Looking forward to getting out and doing some fishing.
