We returned from our trip to New Brunswick and the famed Miramichi River.
We were fishing at Dotie Ponds Camps at Ludlow and we experienced an OUTSTANDING five days of fishing.
I was fishing with my Dad (Bert) and his partner Randy Giffin rom Saint John, who were celebrating their 45th year of fishing on the Miramichi together.
We fished from Oct 2nd til Oct 6th for five days, thru the rain and sun and a 20 inch raise of water, kinda puts the fish down.
Here are some of the pictures:
Joining our party were the sons of my Dad's partner and they caught fish also.
This is a picture of New Brunswick's finest outdoor artist - Andrew Giffin and a 20 lb plus salmon.
Geoff Giffin bagged one too:
Father - Randy Giffin who recently celebrated his 80th birthday picked up a nice fish too.
A high light of the trip was the ability to capture a picture of four generations with fly rod in hand on the banks of the mighty Miramichi.
Another event was the personal best of my son, Dave a fish in the 14-17 lb class.
Following a departure from the Miramichi, we travelled to Saint John to cast a fly for a bass or two on the Hammond River. The bass were taking too well and my Dad, Bert hooked a nice 32" salmon.
He landed that fish - did I mention he's 86 years old!
The next day out he landed another 31 incher.
The trip was a HUGE success as we landed 14 fish, 9 salmon and 5 Grilse.
Everybody is pumped for next year. I'm pumped for the fall walleye now.
Some times you can fish for a week and maybe get a fish or a couple strikes, but we had terrific fishing on a terrific river.
ALL fish were released to continue thier trip upstream to the spawning beds.
