There were about 10 poeple out on the ice off of Potters Creek in Belleville after work today. Ice looked good. Tuesday the baitshop in Rossmore said that the fishing off Potters Creek was good, and there was about 6 inches of ice.

Also said that poeple were fishing for crappies and other panfish through 5 inches of ice in the Belleville yacht club harbour.

The water is open around the Bay Bridge in Belleville, and would even accept the launcing of boats off the ramp on the Rossmore side, for those interested.

I'll be giving Potters creek a go tomorrow AM.

2 of the trucks in the parking at Potters Creek lot still contained unloaded ATVs. Everyone on the ice walked out (most were almost half way across the bay near the buoy), and there were no huts. I expect the ice to still be 5-6", but will know more tomorrow. We've experienced some roller-coaster temps the last few weeks. Will post more detail tomorrow... noonish.

I too left around 6pm. Assuming you were fishing out from the conservation area? My story is similar..... perch. All small, but kept a couple of 7 inchers for a snack. No walleye.......

Will try again in the morning.... hopefully for first light. Thinking of targeting perch with 1 rod, and walleye with another (figure it will help pass the time).

My brother and I have been out at Potter's and Long Reach a couple times a week since the 15th and not much to show for the trouble. The first night at Potter's creek (a ton of ice by the way) my brother hooked a good 8-10lber and lost it right under the hole(rookie). Nothing after that but small perch. Went to long reach out from Green point and fished hard all morning caught two massive cats in that 40ft hole, got the blood flowing, nothing else. General consensus is there is a ton of shad in the bay and the eyes are fattening up on them. Ice is good from Bay brige into Trenton on south side, but fishing is deadly slow. Look for us the two mustang suited diehards!
